Licences

Two licences. The difference is whether the template ends up inside something you sell.

Which one you need

StandardOne end project, yours or a client’s.A site, an app, a product. Most purchases are this. If you build the same template into a second site, that is a second licence. A staging copy, a local copy and a rebuild of the same project are all the same project.
ExtendedUnlimited end projects, including projects you sell.Using the template inside something you sell to other people: a product, a theme, a service where the template is part of what the customer receives. The template may be part of a product other people pay for, as long as what they are paying for is your product and not the template. Shipping it as a template is still redistribution.

If you are not sure, buy Standard. To move to Extended later, write to us: you pay the difference, not the whole price again.

A licence covers the format you bought it in — React + HTML, WordPress, Webflow or Framer. Each format is its own purchase, and the same two licences apply to every one.

A Webflow template bought on Webflow’s Marketplace is bought through Webflow, under the terms of Webflow’s Marketplace, not this licence. A template’s page says when its Webflow version is sold there.

What you can and cannot do

Both licences let you
  • Use the template commercially.
  • Modify it as much as you like, including beyond recognition.
  • Use it for a client, and hand the finished project to that client.
  • Keep using what you bought, with no end date, including after a template is withdrawn from sale.
  • Use every version we release of it, at no extra cost.
  • Give the files to an AI tool to edit, extend and build with: that is what they are made for.
Neither licence lets you
  • Redistribute or resell the files themselves, modified or not.
  • Include them in a template marketplace, bundle, or asset pack.
  • Share your account or your download links.
  • Use them to train or fine-tune an AI model on the design itself.
  • Copy, clone or rebuild a template, or any part of it, without a licence for it.

Build things with it. Do not sell it on.

That is the line. The first is what a template is for; the second takes the work away from the person who made it.

Copying and cloning are prohibited

Every template is original work by our studio, and its design, code, copy and images are protected by copyright. Copying or cloning a template without authorisation is strictly prohibited. A licence is the only authorisation, and it covers only what this licence says.

Without a licence, that rules out:

  • Copying a template’s design, layout, code, copy or images from its live preview, its screenshots or its files.
  • Recreating a template closely, by hand, with an AI tool or with a site-cloning tool, and using, publishing or selling the result.
  • Giving a template’s files, preview or screenshots to an AI tool to produce a copy of it.
  • Removing or changing the copyright and licence notices in the files.

Taking an idea, a layout pattern or a mood is how design works, and we do it too. Copying a template closely enough that it reads as the same work is not.

We act on copies we find: a takedown request to the host, marketplace or search engine carrying them, and the remedies copyright law provides. A licence used to make or share a copy ends.

Ownership, and your client

The design, the code and the assets remain our studio’s. A licence grants use, not ownership, and it does not move on its own: selling or giving your project to someone else does not take the licence with it, unless they buy their own.

One hand-over is part of every licence: a finished project made for a client goes to that client, who may keep it, run it and have it changed. The template’s files on their own never go with it.

What is promised, and what is not

Beyond what the law gives you and the refunds promise, a template comes as it is. It is tested in the tools named on its listing, on the dates printed there, and promised to work nowhere else.

WordPress

WordPress asks that the PHP in a theme or plugin be licensed under the GNU General Public License, so a WordPress download is licensed in two parts. The PHP code of the theme, its child theme and its plugin, and the HTML that code prints, are under the GPL, version 2 or later, which lets you share that code on the GPL’s terms. Everything else in the download — the stylesheets, the scripts, the design, the icons and drawings, the photographs made for the template, the documentation and the demo content — is under the licence you bought, Standard or Extended, as above. The download’s licensing/LICENCE.txt says the same.

Third-party parts

Templates use open-source libraries and fonts, each under its own licence. Those licences are listed in the files and are not changed by this one. Where a font cannot be redistributed, the template links to it rather than including it.
